Scholarships for 2010-2011 

Require nominations:

  • Wofford Scholars Program
    • Awards range from $2,000 to full scholarships
    • Nominations must be submitted by April 1, 2011; students must contact counselor to be nominated by March 30, 2011
  • 2011 Braves Scholarship Program
    • Requires counselor/principal nomination
  • Athens Area Retired Educators Association Scholarship
    • Requires counselor nomination
    • Forms will be picked up from counseling office on April 13, 2011
  • Centre Fellows Scholarship Program
    • For students interested in attending Centre College in Danville, KY
    • Nominations must be submitted by May 15, 2011
  • Univision Student of the Month Scholarship Program
    • Application, nomination essay, student essay, report card, and photograph due by May 31, 2011—but can be submitted before then for each monthly contest
    • Must be a senior, have a 3.0 GPA, be of Hispanic origin, and be bilingual (Spanish/English)

Don’t require nominations:

  • SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes
    • No academic or financial aid requirements to win
    • Students can register online from September 17, 2010 through May 13, 2011. A drawing will take place every two weeks for a winner, and students can reregister after this drawing takes place every two weeks.
  • QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship Program
    • Provides scholarships for college prep activities (e.g. campus visits, etc.)
    • Application must be submitted by March 29, 2011
  • Buick Achievers Scholarship Program
    • Must be interested in automotive-related career
    • Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2011
  • Thomas Eye Center Scholarship
    • Must be interested in math/science fields
    • Applications must be submitted to CCHS counseling office by March 31, 2011
  • Moore's Ford Memorial Scholarships
    • Applicants must have active interest in community service and respect for students of other races
    • Application, letters of recommendation, a 250 word essay, and transcript must be postmarked by March 31, 2011
  • Georgia State UAW Community Action Council Essay Contest
    • Cover sheet, essay, and principal/counselor statement affirming student's application at a college/university due by March 31, 2011
  • Julian & Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship Fund sponsored by Community Bankers Association of Georgia
    • For deserving seniors; based on merit not financial aid
    • Applications must be submitted to a CBA bank by April 1, 2011
  • Athens Rotary Club E.B. Mell Scholarship
    • Based on financial need and academic performance
    • Applications must be submitted to counseling office by April 4, 2011
  • Illinois Institute of Technology STEM+ Scholarship Initiative
    • For students interested in majoring in science, engineering, technology, mathematics, business or architecture
    • Requires submittal of FAFSA to IIT by April 15, 2011
  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Scholarship
    • For female African American seniors
    • Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2011
  • GA Electronic Life Safety & Systems Association Scholarship Program
    • Applications should be postmarked on or before April 15, 2011
  • Will to Win Scholarship Program
    • For seniors with asthma; must excel in performing arts, visual arts, community service, athletics, or science
    • Completed applications must be received by April 30, 2011
  • Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at GA Tech Scholarship
    • For male seniors who will be attending GA Tech
    • Applications due by August 1, 2011
  • University of Alabama-Birmingham Academic Scholarships
    • Students considered for most scholarships after application to university
    • Most require at least a 24 on the ACT and a GPA of 3.0
  • Bonner Scholars at Morehouse College
    • Incoming freshmen commit to service and earn stipends
    • Application should be submitted ASAP

  • Moody’s Mega Math Challenge
    • Online team competition that requires addressing a real-world problem related to mathematics in under 14 hours
    • 11th and 12th grade students are eligible to participate either on March 5 or March 6, 2011
  • Greater Works Outreach Star Quality Awards
    • For current seniors who excel in academics or athletics
    • Nomination form must be in counseling office or org. address by March 28, 2011
